Blue Boar sits on its own stretch of forest above Lake Santeetlah, with a creek running past the porches and walking trails that start at the door.

Eight suites at the end of a road that goes nowhere else. Come for the Cherohala Skyway and Joyce Kilmer, or leave the car where you parked it.

Every suite has a private bathroom and its own side deck opening onto the trees. After that they go their own ways.

Walk down through the woods and the dock is ours alone, with kayaks, canoes and paddleboards waiting on it. Seventy-six miles of shoreline, and almost all of it national forest.
